Argentine Organic Wineries Domaine Bousquet
Domaine Bousquet founded by the Bousquet Family, who hail from the Southern French City of Carcassonne, have a long history and prestigious wine making tradition. In the constant
struggle to produce wines of a superior quality, the Bousquet Family was
determined to fine the best place to continue their decades long tradition.
In 1990, the Bousquet Family arrived in Mendoza to investigate the vineyards and wineries.
By discovering the unique characteristics of the region (It’s soil, it’s high altitude, it’s terroir),
the family was convinced they had found the ideal location for their winery. In 1997, after
buying a parcel of land, they moved from France to the foot of the Andes. The 110
hectares is located in the exclusive Gualtallary valley in Tupungato, Mendoza at an altitude
of 1200 meters (4,000 feet), making it one of the higher altitude vineyards of Mendoza and
the world. The vineyards are blessed with cool nights and a near constant cool breeze, the
idyllic conditions for ripe grapes and excellent wines.
The main objective of the Bousquet Family was to combine what they had learned about
making wine in Europe with the perfect climate and terroir on Mendoza. The result has
been extraordinary wines with incredible color, delicious fruity character, and good
structure with ripe tannins and perfect acid balance. Approachable young, the wines
continue to age gracefully, and as a result the wines are sold in over 50 countries around
the world and continue to receive accolades from the International Wine Press.
Because of the low amount of rainfall (20 cm a year) the watering of the grapes can be
controlled through a drip irrigation system. The water that is used on the vines is also
bottled local and is one of the country’s most popular spring waters, nothing is too good
for our vines. The attention to the watering regime helps to produce grapes with a lower
pH which in turn produces wonderfully balanced wines with great color.
