2013 Mas Carlot Blanc

87 Points Wine Spectator

Flattering feel, with glazed yellow apple and creamed melon flavors mingling with light honeysuckle and heather honey notes. Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier. Drink now.

88 Points Guide des Vins Gilbert et Gaillard

Robe jaune soutenu brillant. Nez sur les agrumes (citron), les fleurs blanches sur fond épicé. Bouche ample, ronde, concentrée où les agrumes dominent. Une belle présence en bouche qui est très expressive. Beaucoup de charme. A marier sur un poisson gras.

Lastly, and the only 2013 tasted, the 2013 Costières de Nîmes Cuvee Tradition offers an earthy, slightly herbal slant to its peppery dark fruits and leather-like aromas and flavors. A blend of 55% Grenache, 40% Syrah and a splash of Mourvèdre aged all in tank, enjoy this classic bistro effort over the coming 2-3 years.

Shows a light beefy edge, with dark plum and steeped black cherry fruit. The finish offers a bacon note, but stays open and easy overall. Drink now.

This is plummy and herbal, with a cherry skin bitterness that will take on charcuterie.

Always producing solid wines from their estate in the Costieres de Nimes region on the western side of the Rhone Valley, Mas Carlot’s 2014 Costieres de Nimes Rose de Carlot is made from a saignée blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre. Sporting an almost Tavel-like color, it offers lots of salty minerality, watermelon, bubble gum and cherry notes to go with a medium-bodied, fresh, juicy and easy drinking style on the palate. A classic Costieres Rose (which always seem to have a salty, mineral component) that represents a good value, drink it over the coming summer months.

 87 Points Vinous

Vivid pink. Deeply pitched red berry and cherry aromas are brightened by a suggestion of white pepper and a subtle floral nuance. Bitter cherry and raspberry flavors show a slightly hard edge that softens slowly on the back half. Clings with good tenacity, leaving bitter orange pith and peppery spice notes behind.

A juicy, rounded style, with pomegranate and cherry fruit that shows a flash of bergamot on the finish. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Drink now. 1,850 case
