2013 Grgich Hills Fume Blanc

92 Points   Wine & Spirits Magazine

“Ivo Jeramaz, Mike Grgich’s nephew, grows this wine at estate vineyards in American Canyon and Carneros, where most of his sauvignon vines are the musqué clone. He ferments it in foudres, with a small portion in older French oak barrels. That oak is evident in a vanillin scent when the wine is first poured, but the fruit has retained its brightness and clarity, so the oak aging adds depth and plushness while the wine feels tight and concentrated, focused on passion fruit and juicy orange notes.”

2012 Grgich Hills Fume Blanc

 90 Points  Wine Enthusiast

“Like the label says, this wine is absolutely dry. It’s also very crisp in acidity, with a mouthwatering tartness that has the taste of freshly-squeezed lime juice. The fruit flavors also include pineapples, grapefruits and Meyer lemons, with slightly richer notes of peaches and Asian pears.”

90 Points  Vinous / Antonio Galloni

“Pale bright yellow. Aromas of lemon drop, grapefruit peel, white flowers and saline minerality, with a riper pineapple quality emerging with air. Scented and fairly rich in the mouth, with an enticing sugar/acid balance to the concentrated tropical fruit, pineapple and lemon drop flavors. Finishes juicy and persistent, with a repeating note of pineapple. Plenty of flavor here.”

2011 Grgich Hills Fume Blanc

89 Points  International Wine Cellar

“Pale yellow. Orange blossom, grapefruit pith, nettles, white pepper and a pungent whiff of herbs. Brisk, lemony and penetrating, but with a leesy hint and saline minerality giving surprising pliancy to the middle palate. Finishes quite dry, with firm citrus zest and mineral notes. Not quite as long as the 2010 version but has plenty of personality.”
